Hello there, and welcome to Breed-Specific BC!

This blog was made by me with the intent of compiling all recent news updates, location listings and information about the BSL in the province of British Columbia, Canada.

Whether you are looking to move, want to adopt a dog, traveling, or just looking for information I hope you will find this blog useful.

News updates will comprise of changes being made to the BSL in our province, upcoming elections, as well as important changes made elsewhere in our country (i.e. Ontario, Calgary, etc.)

Under the 'What is BSL?' tab you may find information regarding BSL; what it means, statistics, why is doesn't work, why you as a dog owner of ANY breed should be concerned, and what you can do to help.

The 'Location' page will bring you to a map to select separate pages based on region with a list of cities that have/have had/are considering BSL.

Under 'Calgary' you will find information on one alternative to BSL that is PROVEN to be efficient in not only lowering the bite rates involving domestic dogs, but also raising the level of license compliance in the city, and educating the public about precautions to take when dealing with dogs, children especially.

'Links' is a list of pages across the net you may find useful as well. Further information on BSL, pit bulls, raw diets, and a list of reputable pit bull shelters and rescue organizations in and out of the province.
